THERE'S A NEW BUZZ downtown Squamish, and it's  coming from "THE NATURE NEST".

Canada Day

Downtown Squamish has been the host of some great street events and there are more to come. Cleveland Avenue, the heart of our downtown, is transforming into somewhere the whole community can come to celebrate. It's the perfect place with eclectic store fronts and personal charm and the business owners are some of the most passionate community oriented people in Squamish.

St-Jean-Baptiste Celebration

June 24th, 2010 - 5pm until 11pm in front of Gelato Carina. For the first time in history, francophones and francophiles of the Sea-to-Sky area, which make out for approximately 15 % of the total population of the Corridor, will be coming together in Squamish to share and celebrate their culture on St-Jean-Baptiste Day. All citizens will be treated to free live francophone music on Cleveland Avenue, which will be closed off from 4pm till 11pm for the event to take place. Over 30 businesses downtown have taken part with French song lyrics on their windows.

Spring Thaw Classic Car Adventure

The Spring Thaw features 63 pre - 1979 classic cars, with over 130 people participating. The cars range from budget classics such as MGB's and VW beetles, to six-digit Aston Martins and Alfa Romeos. Squamish will be the final stop in their three-day, 1200km adventure through the back roads of BC.

The Foyer Gallery

The Foyer Gallery at the Squamish Public Library is a contemporary space dedicated to the exhibition of excellent artwork. The gallery supports large wall and cases of artwork. This Month at the gallery and until April 5 you will find Squamish Valley Quilters' Guild and Jeannine Bradshaw.

Paralympic Torch Relay Downtown Squamish

Come celebrate the Paralympic Torch Relay Downtown Squamish March 7th 1 to 3 pm at the Royal Bank Plaza. Squamish is one of a few communities that have been selected to host the celebrations. Everywhere the Paralympic Torch Relay travels will inspire the message of celebrating the “Possible”. Everyone is welcome to join in the festivities celebrating the Paralympic Torch Relay with this free family event.

Local Athlete Wins GOLD!

Congratulations to local athlete Maelle Ricker for winning GOLD in Olympic Snowboard Cross. This is her first medal in her third Olympic Games. Ricker has won 20 World Cup medals in snowboard cross, including ten victories.  She has competed in six World Championships, earning a bronze medal in snowboard cross in 2005
