Welcome to the neighbourhood Cordelia’s Locket
By Kerry Neil, ED, Downtown Squamish
We are thrilled to welcome Cordelia’s Locket to Downtown Squamish! This cafe and wine bar is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown. With picturesque views of the Stawamus Chief and the Howe Sound from the waterside patio, you will be greeted with the feeling of elegance as you enter through the glass doors. Cordelia’s Locket emanates nature and beauty from every angle.
Born from the hearts of two local female powerhouses Melissa Steacy and Kelly Ann Woods, Cordelia’s Locket is not just a new local restaurant but one that has been curated by the community for the community! Along with personal capital and support from the Women’s Enterprise Centre, Equity Crowdfunding has brought this beauty to life, giving our community the chance to support a cause we believe in not just by donating to that cause but by owning and being part of the story.
I was fortunate enough to have a ‘girls night-out’ a few weeks ago and was delighted with the selection of fine wines, delicious food and excellent service. The menu is bursting with seasonal, well-curated, and refined homestyle platters and dishes with ingredients sourced as locally as possible. Kelly also dusted off her “tastevin” as a sommelier to bring a primarily female vinified wine list to Squamish.
And let’s be real, opening a new business at any time is no small undertaking, but during a global pandemic when supply chains are broken and staff is at an all-time low is a mighty challenge. Still, Kelly & Melissa seem to have taken it all in their stride. Yes, they are stretched, yes, they have a million balls up in the air, but these women are strong, committed, and a force to be reckoned with. I have every faith that this is just the beginning for them.
Not only did Kelly & Melissa launch Cordelia’s Locket this year, but they are also the founders of the Cannabis Beverage Company State B, which has already launched in California and will be launching in Canada imminently.
If you haven’t’ visited yet, make sure you do. Take your friends from 9 am to 9 pm five days a week (moving to 7 pm shortly) and enjoy the quality, ambience, and beauty of Cordelia’s Locket. And on the menu, you’ll find salted caramel rosemary lattés, chilli chocolate hot chocolate, house-made scones & croissants and eggs benedict in the morning to toasties and charcuterie boards at happy hour and bougie comfort food in the evenings.
