About the DSBIA:
The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association (DSBIA) is an association working in partnership with small businesses in downtown Squamish. The DSBIA is creating a culturally and economically vibrant and thriving downtown core by undertaking a broad range of programs including but not limited to; area branding, marketing, social media, beautification, promotional and community events, commercial tenant recruitment, and advocacy.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Is Self-motivated and organized
- Is passionate about Downtown Squamish and the community
- Is living in Squamish throughout the contract
Not essential but would be considered an asset:
- Event planning experience
- Able to drive with Valid Driver’s License
- Design abilities
Position Details:
- May – July (9 weeks), possible extension
- 30 hours per week – remote/onsite at events
- $22 per hour
- Some weekend work will be required
- This position is made possible through the Canadian Summer Jobs Program. You must be between the ages of 15 and 30 and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Responsibilities:
The Project Manager/Admin Support will be working alongside the Executive Director with the following responsibilities:
- Identifying members’ primary needs (marketing, advocacy, events, beautification) through our recent Member Survey results.
- Event Planning
- Timeline
- Communications
- Budgeting
- Sponsorship
- Coordinate volunteers
- Onsite support
- Researching grants that benefit the Association and add value to the members
- Website updates
- As required attend meetings and other community events
- Report weekly activities
