Light Up Squamish 2020November 10, 2020CommunityNEW for 2020: Light Up Squamish
The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association, Tourism Squamish and the Squamish Chamber of Commerce have partnered to create:
Light Up Squamish – a Squamish Community Holiday Campaign
In lieu of regular Squamish holiday programming due to COVID-19 and to encourage residents to shop local this holiday season, a series of festive lights including trees and iconic features will be installed throughout Squamish’s business zones.
The campaign encourages residents to explore Squamish via a free, self-guided light tour in a COVID-19 safe manner, scan QR codes at light zones to be entered to win fantastic prizes, and support Squamish’s amazing small businesses by shopping local.
When?
November 26 – December 31, 2020
Why?
The goal of the campaign is to increase awareness of Squamish businesses and to encourage residents to shop local by:
- Keeping the holiday spirit alive with a holiday self-guided light tour that can be enjoyed in a COVID-19 safe manner
- Encouraging locals to get out and visit local business areas via a holiday light contest
- Providing a platform to communicate promotions from local businesses
How does it work?
- A series of festive lights including trees and iconic features will be installed throughout Squamish’s business zones
- Each Light Up Squamish tree or iconic feature has a QR code to scan, which provides entry to a contest
- The more trees/features scanned, the more contest entries. Explore Squamish to win!
- Each business who registers to participate in the campaign will receive a Light Up Squamish window cling with a QR code
- QR codes and marketing will drive to a dedicated campaign webpage featuring promotions from local businesses
- The campaign will be supported with paid traditional and digital advertising, and through partner channels
- Tourism Squamish is covering all administration costs and significant marketing investment
- To date, we have confirmed sponsors for several locations including – Britannia Mine Museum, Sea to Sky Gondola, Squamish Adventure Centre, Cleveland Avenue, Second Avenue, Tantalus Road (behind Independent Grocer), Squamish Town Hub
How do I get involved?
It’s free for all BIA members to participate, here’s how:
- Provide your business listing details and an offer (e.g. a discount or bonus) to be listed and promoted on the Light Up Squamish website
- Provide prizing for the Light Up Squamish contest, we need prizing of all shapes and sizes for participants to win when they scan QR codes at the Light Up locations
Sign up today!
We’re also seeking additional businesses or group of businesses to sponsor a Light Up location at their business or commercial area.
For $2,000 investment you will receive:
- Recognition as a light sponsor on signage at the light feature, on the website and in communication
- A way to drive local business to your area
- Kudos from the local businesses for sponsoring the light installation in your area
- Holiday lights to keep for next year!
