Open Street Day – Saturday July 29 – 10am – 3pmJune 15, 2023CommunityBack again for 2023 Open Street Day will celebrate the vibrancy of downtown Squamish reclaiming Cleveland Avenue as a community-focused public space. Allowing our local businesses to interact, engage, and re-imagine spaces normally reserved for vehicle traffic and let our residents experience the neighbourhood from a different perspective. Streets as a public space that put people first hold huge possibilities where people of all ages, abilities, and economic backgrounds can come together.
Open Street Day will be a day of local shopping, with the business on Cleveland opening their doors and bringing their goods to the sidewalks! Peruse through local goodies and treasures as you walk, scooter, and bike through the downtown core. We are also very happy to be joined by many community and non-profit organizations this year!
This free event aims to promote sustainable active transportation, community well-being, and social cohesion. By temporarily reallocating the streets from cars to people, we create an opportunity for residents to connect, explore, and envision the potential of Squamish as a more pedestrian-friendly and accessible place.
They’ll be a free bike valet set up at Pemberton and Cleveland Avenue by our partners OurSquamish Placemaking Society. We encourage you to travel downtown by foot, bike, skateboard, or Scooter!
This is our second Open Street day in Downtown Squamish, organized by OurSquamish Placemaking Society, the District of Squamish, Squamish Arts and Downtown Squamish BIA.
