Welcome to the Neighbourhood: Taste of SaigonMay 21, 2021NewsWe have a new Vietnamese cafe opening in Downtown Squamish on Cleveland Ave this weekend!
As COVID-19 restrictions have forced many businesses to close, The Taste of Saigon Cafe is part of a substantial group of entrepreneurs who have decided to open new ventures in Squamish, and we are thrilled to have them be part of our Downtown Squamish community.
I popped in to chat to the owners of Taste of Saigon before the grand opening this Sunday and found out more about the couple behind the restaurant and their hopes for the first vietnamese restaurant in Squamish.
It’s taken a little longer than planned but Thanh Nguyễn and his wife Duong are very excited to open their doors this Sunday. Opening a new business during a global pandemic is no mean feat but owners Thanh & Duong are very passionate and excited to bring their authentic Vietnamese cuisine to Squamish.
Hailing from Vietnam, where they owned many restaurants, Thanh & Duong promise traditional, authentic Vietnamese food with a huge helping of friendly and hospitable customer service for the Squamish community.
Construction and permitting delays caused by the pandemic pushed back the restaurant’s opening till now, but the delays did not halt the drive and determination to get the doors open for Thanh & Duong.
I was very lucky to be treated to a delicious Vietnamese Iced Coffee when I sat down with Thanh, a menu item I will be going back for again. It was delicious, rich, ice-cold and very refreshing, and just what I needed to pick me up on a sunny afternoon in Squamish.
Thanh shared with me some other delicious menu items to expect on Sunday, including the specialty Pho Dac Biet (All cuts combo) to the Banh Mi Thit (traditional Vietnamese sub) and fresh spring rolls, all of which I can’t wait to sample at the grand opening this Sunday!
A Taste of Saigon is just another wonderful addition to our ever-increasing selection of diverse and tasty food in downtown Squamish. To find out more about eateries in Downtown Squamish visit the directory.
